Lyon are interested in signing Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to L’Equipe.

It has been reported this evening (6:54pm) that French club Lyon made an offer to Liverpool for Shaqiri today.

The Ligue 1 club have reportedly spent a few hours today trying to convince the former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winger.

The Switzerland international winger has been left out of the Liverpool squad for this evening’s pre-season friendly match.

Xherdan Shaqiri exit imminent?

Shaqiri has already said that he wants to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

The Premier League and Champions League winner has actually told the Reds’ board that he wants an exit.

And now, on the same evening that the 29-year-old has been left out of the squad for a pre-season friendly, a bid has come in.

Could an exit be on the cards?

You should not be surprised if Shaqiri leaves soon.

Of course, it remains to be seen if Lyon’s offer is good enough for Liverpool, and indeed if the player himself is open to a move to the French club.

Shaqiri has been a fringe player at Liverpool, and a move to Lyon would make sense, especially if he is able to play week in and week out.

The winger made five starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League, and made one start and four substitute appearances in the Champions League last season.
