Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting to Ian McGarry’s claim that the Reds have made an informal offer for Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Merseyside club have long been linked with a move for the Senegal international, and it seems as though they’re now set to amp up their interest.
“They have had a long-standing interest in the Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, which we have reported on the podcast in detail over the podcast in the past year. It is our understanding that an informal offer to begin with of €40m plus add ons has been made for the player who is certainly available, and Jurgen Klopp certainly looks at him as being a very suitable partner for Virgil van Dijk,” McGarry said on the Transfer Window Podcast.
As you can imagine, Reds supporters were over the moon to hear this.
Liverpool could certainly do with some new blood in the backline, and Koulibaly would provide much more than just a depth option.
Indeed the Senegalese centre-back isn’t one who’s going to be playing second fiddle to anybody. He’s a fantastic defender who could form a mouth-watering partnership with Virgil van Dijk if he is brought in.
It remains to be seen whether or not Koulibaly is signed, but if he is, it will certainly be a popular move amongst the Liverpool fanbase.
