Arsenal U18 talent Marcelo Flores is reportedly set to receive his first senior call-up for the Mexico national team despite not playing a single minute of football for Mikel Arteta’s side this season.
According to Record and Goal reporter Charles Watts, Flores has been selected by Mexico ahead of a friendly against Chile taking place next month in the United States.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who was born in Canada and can also represent England, was recently named player of the tournament at the 2021 Revelations Cup while playing for Mexico.
And it appears the North American giants are keen to tie Flores down to Mexico for his future given how many nations the Arsenal teenager can represent if given the opportunity.
It is an incredible achievement for Flores, especially when you consider the 18-year-old has yet to feature for Arsenal’s senior squad in any capacity. The youngster isn’t even part of the Gunners’ U23 side.
Yet it is a promising sign for Arsenal that a player like Flores is being called up by a nation as big as Mexico, with El Tri making the Round of 16 in the past seven World Cups.

Arsenal’s Hale End academy is producing some incredible talent, with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe two players currently leading the senior side back towards European football. And Flores could well be another star in the making.
