Gabby Agbonlahor has said on talkSPORT that he thinks that Graham Potter’s Chelsea are paying Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk more than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in salary.

The former Aston Villa striker believes that Chelsea have offered Mudryk £250,000 or £300,000-a-week as salary, while Arsenal are ready to pay him £100,000 or £150,000-a-week.

The talkSPORT pundit has also said that he thinks that Chelsea are paying more in transfer fees than Arsenal to Shakhtar.

TalkSPORT have claimed that Arsenal want to sign Mudryk in the January transfer window, but Shakhtar have announced that they are close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea over a deal for the 22-year-old Ukraine international winger

Speculation on why Mykhailo Mudryk is joining Chelsea, not Arsenal

Agbonlahor said: “With this transfer, Chelsea have bullied Arsenal, they have financially bullied them.

“They went over and spoke to his agent and probably told him, ‘We’ll give you [the agent] more, we’ll give the player more in wages and we’ll give the club more money up front’.

“Arsenal were maybe going to give him £100,000 or £150,000-a-week, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Chelsea offered him £250,000 or £300,000-a-week!

“Chelsea can just turn up with an open wallet and say, ‘What do you want?’

“I think it’s a good signing, but it’s going to hurt Arsenal and it’s going to hurt Arsenal fans.”

Blow for the Gunners

In our view, missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk is a big blow for Arsenal, who have been chasing the winger for a while now.

The swiftness with which Chelsea moved for the winger shows just how efficient they have been.

Arsenal will now have to focus on another winger, but they have now ‘wasted’ half of the January transfer window.

The Gunners will have to act fast now.

Just like Chelsea did with Mudryk.
