Speaking on Stadium Astro, Matt Upson has been speaking about Bukayo Saka’s future after Arsenal’s loss to Everton on Monday.

Unfortunately, the Gunners don’t look like they will be challenging for any of the top honours this season. They’re way off the pace in the Premier League while they’re not in any European competitions either.

Upson believes that the 20-year-old may attract interest from some bigger and better clubs in the coming years, but he doesn’t think he’ll be leaving imminently.

What’s been said about Saka?

Upson gave his view on Saka’s future.

“I think we’re talking about a player who is early on in establishing himself at Arsenal. He’s an England international, but in terms of appearances made, ok, he plays every week now, but you have to do this over a certain amount of time before a move happens,” Upson said.

“Those players you referenced they’d played three or four seasons playing week in week out. Saka is a little bit away for that, he’s hugely attractive for a big club who are in a better to win the Premier League, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all because he’s a fantastic player.”

Could move

As amazing as it would be to see Saka stay at Arsenal for the remainder of his career, we have to agree with Upson here.

The youngster is an incredibly talented footballer who is good enough to play for any team on the planet.

He may stay loyal for a while yet, but if a few more years go by and he’s still not playing Champions League football or challenging for a Premier League title then his patience may begin to run thin.

We’re not saying that Saka will be on his way next summer, but don’t be shocked if in two or three years he’s assessing his options.
