Ex-Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has opened up on his dream to re-sign for the Gunners while speaking on the ITV Sport podcast.

The midfielder is a free agent after being released by West Ham this summer, and he’s still looking for his next move.

The 28-year-old doesn’t have a club lined up as of yet, but he’s made it clear that his dream is to get back to the Emirates.

Wilshere was asked about a potential return to the Gunners on the podcast, to which he replied:

‘Listen mate, you never know.

“Listen, I’m an Arsenal man, I’ve not spoken to anyone or anything, but that would be the dream.

“I’m not stupid to know that there’s probably no chance of that happening, but listen I’m an Arsenal man, I love the club, I want to see the club do well.”

The 28-year-old says that there’s no chance, but stranger things have happened.

Look, if a crocked Owen Hargreaves could get a move to champions-elect Manchester City back in 2011, Wilshere can earn a place back at Arsenal.

Realistically, it wouldn’t be the worst move in the world. Wilshere is clearly willing to give his all for the club and he has the talent to be an effective part of the squad, after all, he is an England international.

Fans are clearly on board with the idea as well, and his signing would lift the mood at the club.

Unfortunately, the big question mark remains over his fitness, but if he can prove himself he could be an asset for the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta may want to make a call to see just how expensive bringing Wilshere in on a free would be, as if he doesn’t want a big wage, this could be a move worth making.
