FC Luzern starlet Ardon Jashari admits he ‘dreams’ of following in Granit Xhaka’s footsteps amid reports linking the Swiss midfielder with a move to Premier League leaders Arsenal, speaking to SRF.
Jashari only celebrated his 20th birthday a couple of months ago.
But age, as they say, is but a number. The fact that Jashari has captained FC Luzern in five Swiss Super League games already this season is proof of that. The once-capped Switzerland international is not only a natural-born leader, but also a player who looks destined to strut his stuff at a much higher level.

According to reporter Matteo Moretto, Ajax, Napoli, Nice and Real Sociedad are watching Jashari closely. Arsenal too.
And, while Ajax, Sociedad and co have an excellent track record when it comes to developing young talent, the chance to hone his abilities alongside a certain Granit Xhaka may be an opportunity too good for Jashari to turn down.
Could Ardon Jashari join Granit Xhaka at Arsenal?
“(Comparisons with Xhaka) make me incredibly proud,” Jashari explains. “But I have to keep my feet on the ground and continue to perform. Following a career path like Xhaka’s would be a dream.
“When I sit at a table with (older) players, they quickly realize that I’m a mature person. That’s how the players know me.”
Arsenal, since appointing former midfielder Edu Gaspar as their technical director, have often prioritised exciting youngsters right at the start of their footballing journey in the transfer market. A la Gabriel Martinelli, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira and Marquinhos.
Jashari, then, fits Arsenal’s transfer policy quite neatly.
“For me, Jashari is the greatest talent in Switzerland,” says Luzern coach Mario Frick. “He’s really good! I think this role (as one of the club’s captains) will give him an extra push.”
Jashari is currently under contract until 2026 at the Swissporarena.
