Liverpool fans have reacted on Twitter to rumours that Leicester City could potentially sign Philippe Coutinho.
It’s been three years since Barcelona paid Liverpool well over £100 million for Coutinho’s talents (BBC Sport), but fast forward to today, and he could return back to the Premier League for not even 30% of that price.
It hasn’t worked out for the quick-thinking playmaker since he left Anfield, but now they may well be a reunion with a familiar face in Brendan Rodgers.
Mundo Deportivo have claimed that the 2021 FA Cup winners want to bring the Barcelona man to the King Power Stadium and they could make a bid just below £20 million.
Whether Coutinho has donned the colours of Barca or Bayern, he hasn’t been able to replicate that form that saw the Catalan giants splash such big money on his services.
Perhaps reuniting with a manager in Rodgers, who could the best out of him at Anfield, might be a logical move.
Plus, he’s joining a team in Europe, recent FA Cup winners and they just need that extra spark to get them over that Champions League line.
Rodgers likes his midfielders to be technically efficient, comfortable in tight spaces, play it quick between the lines and have that flair to produce something out of nothing.
Whilst Coutinho hasn’t been ticking those boxes of late, with a helping hand from Rodgers, he may just provide him with the tools to get him back to his best.
