World Cup-winning goalkeeper Pepe Reina thinks Paris SG star Gianluigi Donnarumma can be one of the best keepers in the world for “many years” as he backed his former Milan teammate to be Italy’s number one for the next “10 or 15 years.”

Donnarumma made the move from Milan to Paris over the summer as a French side build football’s version of the Harlem Globetrotters and Reina thinks the fact he’s already got more than 250 games under his belt at the age of 22 is “exceptional”.

The Italian impressed at Euro 2020 as Italy lifted the European Championship over the summer as the imposing Donnarumma put in a string of composed performances, leaving former Liverpool star Reina convinced he’ll be one of the best in the world for a long time to come.

“He has played more than 250 games at the age of 22, and that is already an exceptional background,” Reina told Marca. He has everything to be in the top three for many years. His size is unique. It’s amazing how far he goes, the stops he makes. He is tall but agile.

“Italy has a goalkeeper for the next 10 or 15 years.”

Donnarumma is yet to make his first competitive appearance for PSG but could come into the side after the international break alongside Lio Messi.

The Italian faces tough competition to force his way into the side but given his performances for Milan and Italy, it will only be a matter of time before he deposes current number one Keylor Navas.
