Speaking to Liverpool’s official club website, Sadio Mane has been discussing Virgil van Dijk after his triumphant return from injury.
The Dutchman has had an incredibly difficult 12 months, he was injured last October after a clash with Jordan Pickford in the Merseyside derby, and since then it’s been a long road to recovery.
However, the centre-back is now back in action, and Mane is over the moon to have the 29-year-old playing alongside him once again.
What’s been said?
Mane was waxing-lyrical about van Dijk.
“Having one of the best defenders in the world back on your team, you don’t need to describe it – it’s amazing,” Mane said.
“Last year was obviously a tough time for him but now he’s always smiling! And, of course, we are all happy for him.
“He is a very professional athlete who looks after his body all the time and I wasn’t surprised to see him straight back into his old form. We have seen him play a few games now and, for me, we have seen him at that level already.”

Back to his best
Van Dijk is back, and he’s back to his best.
Liverpool have conceded just one goal in three Premier League matches so far, and he passed one of the toughest tests he’ll face all season as he handled Romelu Lukaku with relative ease.
He seemingly hasn’t lost any pace while his passing is still unbelievable.
Van Dijk could once again be the key to Liverpool lifting some major silverware this season.
