England take on Senegal at 7pm tonight in their World Cup 2022 Round of 16 clash, where the temperature is set to be a bit less intense than usual inside the Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar.
The Three Lions would reach the World Cup quarter-final for the second tournament in a row if they can overcome Aliou Cissé’s side, although it is certain to be a difficult task for Gareth Southgate.
Qatar are three hours ahead of the United Kingdom, so you would expect the temperature to be bearable at 10pm local time, although it is still set to be a tough physical test for the England players in terms of humidity…
What is the temperature in Qatar today for England vs Senegal?
Well, Southgate and his 25-man England squad, 26-man squad before Ben White returned home for personal reasons, will actually be playing in colder temperatures than they’ve been used to during the World Cup so far.
England played in 25 degree heat and 69% humidity in their 0-0 draw with the United States at 10pm local time, and it seemed to contribute to a very lethargic performance, undoubtedly their worst display of the tournament so far.
When the Three Lions take on Senegal, it will be the same humidity level, but temperatures are set to drop to 23 degrees as Qatar’s intense weather begins to ease slightly.
That sounds like a bearable environment to play football in, although given the fact England struggled in 69% humidity against the United States, we would understand if people were concerned.
England vs Senegal could have been a much scarier test
With all due respect to the rest of Senegal’s squad, which contains stars such as Kalidou Koulibaly and Ismaila Sarr, England fans will be breathing a huge sigh of relief after Sadio Mane was ruled out of the World Cup through injury.
The Bayern Munich No.17 terrorised opponents during his eight-year stay in English football with Southampton and then Liverpool, scoring 111 goals across 263 Premier League appearances.

Mane was ruled out of the World Cup after damaging his right fibula during Bayern Munich’s 6-1 win over Werder Bremen just before the start of the tournament.
Southgate, while surely disappointed for the 30-year-old, must inwardly be relieved about his absence.
