Speaking on the BBC Radio Five Live Football Daily Podcast, Kevin Campbell has been waxing-lyrical about Gabriel Jesus as he closes in on a move to Arsenal.
The Brazilian is reportedly on the verge of being announced as a new Arsenal player, and it’s fair to say that the excitement is palpable amongst the Gunners’ fanbase.
One man who is very excited about this potential arrival is former Highbury legend Kevin Campbell.
Indeed, the BBC pundit spoke very highly of Jesus, labelling the Brazilian as a ‘world-class’ operator.
What’s been said?
Campbell had nothing but good things to say about Jesus.
“Very excited, I think Gabriel Jesus is a world-class player, although he wasn’t utilised enough as he could have been, but a good gauge is that when the big games came around he played, Liverpool at home, Liverpool away, the Champions League, he played, he started and he usually assisted and scored,” Campbell said.
“I think it’s time for him to be the main man, Mikel Arteta has worked with him, he knows what type of player he is. A lot of clubs were in for him, Champions League clubs were interested in him, but the work and connection that Arteta has with him has won the day, and he’s coming to Arsenal, which is great.”

Time to get excited
Campbell is very enthused about this signing, and he has every right to be.
Arsenal have been desperate for a new number nine for quite some time, and now, they’ve got their man.
As Campell says, Jesus is a world-class player, and while he wasn’t the first name on the Manchester City teamsheet last season, more often than not he would deliver when he was picked by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Jesus is a fantastic footballer, and Arsenal could finally have their Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replacement.
