Speaking on his YouTube channel, Charles Watts has been discussing Gabriel Jesus’s move to Arsenal and an impending announcement.

The Brazilian looks all set to join the Gunners this summer. He was pictured hugging Edu on Tuesday, a medical has been completed and the deal is pretty much done.

All that is left is for Arsenal to officially announce this signing, and while Gunners fans may be refreshing their Twitter feeds every 10 seconds awaiting this announcement, Watts reckons that it may not be imminent.

Indeed, according to the journalist, Arsenal don’t plan to announce this signing on Wednesday, and this could run all the way into Friday.

What’s been said?

Watts shared what he knows about the Jesus announcement.

“One person who is definitely arriving is Gabriel Jesus, it was all wrapped up yesterday, we haven’t had the announcement yet, I don’t want to say for certain because they can suddenly change their minds at any point, but as far as I’m aware I’m not sure we’re going to get an announcement today from Arsenal,” Watts said.

“It could run into tomorrow or Friday. I’m not expecting it today, but the powers at be could change their mind and just announce it. It will be announced, that’s what’s important.”

Friday makes sense

Jesus will become an Arsenal player, it’s just a matter of time.

However, the official announcement may not arrive for a couple of days, and, in our view, a Friday move makes the most sense.

As an article from The Athletic detailed this week, July 1st represents the start of a new financial year within football, so it’s beneficial for some teams to put off officially announcing any transfers until that date so they can balance their books in a more favourable manner.

A Friday announcement could be on the cards for this reason, but as Watts says, Arsenal could change their mind and pull the trigger at any time.

The important thing is, Jesus will be an Arsenal player next season.
