Rangers are said to be interested in bringing Todd Cantwell to Ibrox – a player Alan Shearer rates highly.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Jim White who revealed on talkSPORT that those at Ibrox are holding talks over a deal for the 24-year-old.
The 66-year-old added that those on the recruitment team at Rangers believe Cantwell would be an excellent fit for the playing style under Michael Beale.
If a move for the £25,000-a-week man does materialise, it would seemingly come with the approval of Shearer.
The Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals once hailed Cantwell for his exceptional performances at Carrow Road, during a 2019/20 campaign which saw him score seven goals in all competitions.
After the Norwich No.14 scored in a 2-0 win over Everton back in November 2019, Shearer waxed lyrical about the attacking midfielder on Match of the Day.

The 52-year-old said: “His performance had everything, we spoke tonight about work rate and everything else, look at this, his desire to get back.”
Unfortunately, Norwich and Cantwell suffered relegation that season, although many expected him to leave Norfolk due to his standout displays.
Cantwell could thrive at Rangers
On the basis of his performances in the 2019/20 season, Cantwell looked set to become one of England’s brightest footballers along with Jack Grealish and James Maddison.
According to The Athletic, Jürgen Klopp even wanted him at Liverpool.
However, Norwich denied Cantwell an exit, and his career has since stalled significantly – as things stand, he has made 18 appearances in the Championship this season, failing to score or assist a goal.
Nevertheless, at the age of just 24, he still has plenty of time to turn things around, and a fresh start at Ibrox could be exactly what he needs.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Rangers continue to hold discussions.
