Wolves attempted to hire Michael Beale before appointing Julen Lopetegui, after he made a name for himself at Rangers and now at QPR.

Surprisingly, the 42-year-old turned down the chance to manage in the Premier League, reiterating his commitment to QPR in what was an admirable response to an approach from Molineux.

Sky Sports quote Beale as saying: “I have been all-in here and I have asked other people to be all-in so I can’t be the first person to run away from the ship.”

Therefore, if a rumour coming from Rangers is now true, after the Bears sacked Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Wolves will surely be annoyed.

Michael Beale interested in Rangers return

Well, the Bromley-born tactician made a name for himself at Ibrox as Steven Gerrard’s No.2, and according to the Daily Record, he is now interested in coming back to Glasgow as the main man.

If that is true, it would suggest his stance on QPR has changed in just a matter of weeks, and if he did return to Ibrox, it would surely frustrate both Wolves and the Championship side.

Beale is currently sitting seventh in the Championship with QPR, seven points off the automatic promotion slots, while they are only outside of the play-off positions on goal difference.

The R’s have a great chance of returning to the Premier League this season if they can have a strong second half of the campaign, although everything could unravel if Beale departs.

Michael Beale must tell Rangers what he told Wolves

In our view, Beale risks ruining his credibility if he returns to Rangers.

It was only a month ago that he went public with his commitment to QPR, so how could any of his players ever trust him if he went back on his word so quickly?

Furthermore, there is so much work to be done at Rangers, who find themselves nine points behind Celtic and in desperate need of reinforcements.

It will be a tough task to replace Van Bronckhorst in that sense, and Beale surely wouldn’t want to risk seeing his reputation crumble just as his star begins to rise.
