According to journalist Vene Casagrande on Twitter, Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a proposal for Atletico Madrid central defender Felipe, who is on the radar of Everton as well.

Casagrande has reported that Wolves are in talks with Atletico over signing Felipe in the January transfer window and have made an offer.

The Brazilian centre-back has been linked with Wolves’ Premier League rivals Everton as well.

The Daily Mail reported last week that Everton are keen on the 33-year-old, adding that Wolves want him as well.

Casagrande wrote on Twitter, translated from Portuguese: “Close to negotiating the purchase of João Gomes from Flamengo, Wolverhampton is also negotiating the signing of Felipe, defender of Atlético de Madrid since 2019.

“The proposal has already been made. The Brazilian defender’s contract with the Spanish team ends in June this year.”

Wolverhampton Wanderers or Everton for Atletico Madrid defender Felipe?

In our view, Wolverhampton Wanderers are more likely than Everton to be able to sign Felipe from Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

Yes, both Wolves and Everton are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, but there is more calm around the Wanderers.

The Toffees struggled last season as well, and there have been fans’ protests this season.

Wolves are making signings in January, and new head coach Julen Lopetegui seems to be confident about getting the team out of trouble in the coming weeks.
