Ruben Amorim will not join Wolverhampton Wanderers after Bruno Lage’s sacking, according to Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepulveda.
Wolves have decided to make a managerial change having announced the sacking of Lage on Sunday.
Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham United proved to be the final straw as Wolves pulled the trigger on Lage.
The Portuguese boss leaves after a disappointing start to the season and the expectation is that Wolves will go and appoint one of Lage’s compatriots.

Ruben Amorim will not join Wolverhampton Wanderers
Jorge Mendes continues to have real influence at Molineux and Wolves could go for a third Portuguese manager in a row.
Nuno Espirito Santo was a success at Wolves before Lage’s initial promise turned to disappointment.
So who comes in next?
Pedro Martins has been linked and fits the Portuguese mould, whilst there have been lofty rumours surrounding Sporting boss Ruben Amorim.
The Sun have reported that Wolves fancy Amorim and now have him at the top of their wish list to replace Lage.
Amorim, 37, is considered to be one of the top young managers in Europe having guided Sporting to the league title in 2021.
Wolves may well hope to make Amorim their latest Portuguese manager but he has been linked with other jobs.
Sky Sports reported in September that Chelsea had held talks with Amorim before appointing Graham Potter as their new boss.
Amorim will likely have his pick of the clubs should he look to leave Sporting and there are doubts that he would choose Wolves.
Portuguese journalist Pedro Sepulveda has now told Sky Sports that he is ‘100% sure’ that Amorim will not be joining Wolves.
Sepulveda noted that Amorim isn’t represented by Jorge Mendes and he doesn’t want to leave Sporting’s project right now anyway, so Sepulveda is telling Wolves to forget about a deal for him.
“Now we have to wait to see who is going to be the next manager,” said Sepulveda. “I really think that has to be, let’s say, a Jorge Mendes-side manager because I don’t really see Wolverhampton with a manager who is not controlled by Jorge Mendes. I really think that now, Jorge Mendes is looking at his options, which in my opinion are not that much, for the new coach.”
“If you look at some that names that were associated to the club, Ruben Amorim was one of them but I can guarantee you that the Sporting coach, nowadays it’s not an option for Wolverhampton for two reasons.”
“The main one is that things are not going great in the Portuguese league for Sporting and Ruben Amorim doesn’t want to leave the project nowadays.”
“The second is that Ruben Amorim is not from that Mendes side that I was speaking about because he has another agent and I don’t really think that he can sit with Mendes to talk about a Premier League option. Forget the name of Ruben Amorim, I understand that he could be a name, he could be a rumour because he is one of the best Portuguese coaches, but I am 100% sure that Ruben Amorim is not an option for Wolverhampton,” he added.
