The Wolves striker is the Football Writers Association by being voted their Midlands Player of the Year following a great Molineux debut season.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Raul Jimenez has seen his exploits this season rewarded by the Football Writers Association by being voted their Midlands Player of the Year.
With 12 goals and eight assists from 35 Premier League games and four goals from six FA Cup games (Transfermarkt), the 27-year-old striker has become a Molineux fan favourite.
Wolves fans had urged the club on Twitter to sign him on multiple occasions, with his initial loan from Benfica set to expire at the end of the season, and their wishes came true earlier this month.
In a statement on 4 April, the club confirmed they exercised the option to sign Jimenez on a permanent deal from 1 July 2019 and he will sign a four-year deal to keep him in the West Midlands until 2023.
The Mexico international was presented with the FWA award on Friday, as per BBC West Midlands Sport’s Twitter feed:
Which made for a Wolves award double whammy as his manager Nuno Espirito Santo was also recognised as the Midlands Manager of the Year:
Jimenez also posted on his own Twitter account, thanking those who voted for him, and some of the Wolves faithful responded:
Wolves have enjoyed a superb season following last term’s Championship title triumph, reaching the semi-finals of the FA Cup and being comfortably in the top half of the table.
