Wolverhampton Wanderers have surprised many with their surge to the top of the Championship table this season.
Wolves ace Barry Douglas sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star and talked up the high levels of focus currently present at Molineux, highlighting how Nuno Espirito Santo will never allow his team to become complacent in their pursuit of promotion to the Premier League.
The Black Country outfit currently sit comfortably at the top of the table, four points clear of second placed Cardiff City, and are in the midst of a superb run of form that has seen them rack up seven wins from their last eight league outings.
Nuno’s men have taken 41 points from their opening 18 league outings, and the same return from the next 18 would surely put them in a position where promotion back to the top flight is a formality.
The Wolves players have not become complacent, however.
Douglas sat down for an interview with the Express & Star, and shared how Nuno will not allow his players to rest on their laurels:
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves or we’ll get complacent. That’s why we’ve got such a good squad because everyone’s grounded. Nuno isn’t one for complacency – he keeps everyone on their toes and makes sure we don’t get ahead of ourselves. It’s nice to get the hype and the talk but we need to just focus what we do on the training ground. Thankfully it’s paying off.”
Next up for Wolves is a home game against second from bottom Bolton Wanderers, and it would take a brave man to bet against Nuno’s men making it five league wins on the bounce.
