As if Wolverhampton Wanderers’ season couldn’t have been getting any better, the news that most fans had been waiting for finally became a reality this week.

The amazing Raul Jimenez, who has taken the Premier League by storm this term in the Old Gold, is set to join the Molineux club permanently in the summer.

Wolves fans had urged the club on Twitter to sign the Mexico international on multiple occasions, given he has been on a season-long loan from Benfica.

However, in a statement put out on Thursday afternoon, the club confirmed they exercised the option to sign Jimenez on a permanent deal from 1 July 2019.

The 27-year-old, who has 15 goals and eight assists in all competitions for Wolves (Transfermarkt), is set for a four-year deal to keep him in the West Midlands until 2023.

On Thursday afternoon, Jimenez shared a video on his Twitter confirming he was staying, and later on in the day he gave his own thoughts on the development:

Wolves teammate Jonathan Castro Otto, also known as Jonny, responded in Spanish by writing “solamente puedo decir” (“I can only say”) and a GIF of a standing ovation:

Some Wanderers fans also replied to Jimenez’s message on the social media platform:

Up next for Wolves is arguably the biggest game in their recent history, the FA Cup semi-final tie with Watford at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
