The Wolves loanee continues to deliver but manager Nuno insists the club will consider their options at the end of the season.
Nuno Espirito Santo has stated that Wolverhampton Wanderers intend to make a decision on Raul Jimenez’s future at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has been a revelation for Wolves this season, claiming six goals and six assists in the Premier League this campaign, according to Transfermarkt.
This tally of goal contributions includes the decisive cross for Diogo Jota’s late winner to seal a 4-3 victory against Leicester City in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff.
Many Wolves fans have already taken the on-loan Benfica striker to heart and have urged the club on Twitter to sign him on multiple occasions.
A £30million deal has already been agreed with the Portuguese club over a permanent move for Jimenez, but Nuno suggested that this will not be taken into consideration in January.
Asked about Jimenez’s contract, Nuno is quoted by The Mirror as saying before the Foxes game: “This is a normal course of things, we have to make the decision at the end of the season. When that moment comes we’ll be here to decide.
“For now Raul is doing very well and he must maintain these levels of intensity and the high standards he puts in every game and training session for him to have good performances on match days.”
Jimenez himself appears open to a permanent switch to Molineux, having told Mexican newspaper Record earlier this week that he wishes to stay in the Midlands and that he finally feels like he has found a place to call home after mixed spells in Portugal and Spain.
Although the decision is out of his hands, it’s hard to see how Wolves can refuse taking him on permanently, given his obvious talents, his quantifiable exploits in England this season and the fact he could be even more dangerous next season as he picks up more experience in English football.
