Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that without Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, Manchester City would have won the Premier League title season after season without any real threat like Juventus did recently in Serie A.
Conte made the comments about Liverpool ahead of the Premier League game between Tottenham and the Reds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
Tottenham are above Liverpool in the league table at the moment and appear to be in the running for the title.
Liverpool are in danger of missing out on a place in the top four.
While Liverpool have won the Premier League title just once under manager Jurgen Klopp, they have pushed City really hard over the years and have not let them runaway with the championship.
Until recently, Juventus were winning the Scudetto in Italy without any real competition.
Antonio Conte was the manager who started Juventus’s domination of Serie A.

Interestingly, it was Conte who ended Juve’s dominance when he led Inter Milan to the Serie A title in 2020-21.
Then last season, it was AC Milan who won the championship.
Conte has made a rather worrying claim that if Liverpool were not there, then Manchester City would have become the single dominant force in England, like Juventus were.
And no one wants that, as we want all leagues to be competitive.
Antonio Conte on Liverpool and Manchester City
Conte said: “First of all, I think that Liverpool have to be proud because in the last five years they were the big, big rivals for Manchester City.
“Otherwise, without Liverpool I think maybe Manchester City could do in the same way like Juventus was in Italy.
“So for this reason they have to be proud to reach this level and I think they improved a lot in these years during the transfer market with the big, big signings, and this is a positive thing I’m telling to Liverpool because you can have money to spend, but if you waste your money, you don’t sign good players and you can have whatever money you want, but you have to spend it in the best possible way.
“I think that Liverpool did this in this period, otherwise I think it was really, really difficult to become the first rival for Manchester City.”
