Speaking on his podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Mohamed Salah and his below-par run of form for Liverpool.
The Egyptian started this season like a man possessed. He was scoring in almost every single game and he looked on track to break all kinds of Premier League records.
However, since the turn of the year, Salah has slowed down, scoring just three goals since February.
Salah hasn’t been bad by any stretch of the imagination, but the goals have dried up, and Wright believes that’s because teams have figured out that they need to quickly double-up on him when he gets the ball.
What’s been said about Salah?
Wright spoke about Salah.
“I watched Mo again against Everton, and if Liverpool can’t switch it quick enough for him to get the ball and go at one person, if they take their time, and Everton did it well in the first-half, I find that switch, sometimes by the time it gets to him, there are two people there, and you know he’s going to feint down the right and cut down the left and lay it back to Trent or whoever is there,” Wright said.
“We’ve seen him score goals when he dribbles through two or three players and score, but people are wise to the fact that when the ball goes out there, they need to get players over to him, and that’s what’s happening with Mo, the ball isn’t going for him when he’s trying to go through, and it breaks down, that’s the Salah we’re getting at the moment.”

Won’t stop Liverpool
Doubling or even tripling up on Salah may stop the Egyptian, but sadly for opposition teams, he isn’t the Reds’ only threat.
It’s no coincidence that Salah’s dip in form has coincided with Sadio Mane’s best run of form this season, the extra emphasis on defending Salah has allowed the Senegalese superstar to hit his stride.
Yes, Salah may have been slightly figured out, but that won’t stop Liverpool from running riot, even if the Egyptian isn’t the man scoring all the goals lately.
