Dean Saunders has tipped Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to sign former Liverpool star and current Bayern Munich player Sadio Mane this summer.

The former striker suggested that, if Sadio Mane were to join Arsenal, then ‘he might win you the league’, as the club aims to go to the next level after making a return to the Champions League this season.

Last summer, Mane left Liverpool to join Bayern Munich for £35 million (Sky Sports), but it has gone very wrong for the 31-year-old and Saunders thinks ‘what a signing’ he would be for Arsenal, as he told talkSPORT.

Putting the Gunners aside, there are suggestions that the Senegal star could return to the Premier League this summer because his spell in Munich has gone horribly wrong.

From the incident that saw him punch Leroy Sane to being an unused substitute on the season’s final day, as Thomas Tuchel’s side won the Bundesliga title in dramatic fashion.

But whilst other teams have been mentioned at possibly signing Mane this summer, Saunders decided to throw Arsenal’s name into the mix.

“I have got one for you, he might win you (Arsenal) the league,” said Saunders. “Mane. What a signing would that be! He plays anywhere. He plays down the middle.”

Mane wouldn’t fit at Arsenal now

The issue here is that he prefers to play off the left or down the middle, now Arteta is pretty stacked down that left channel and an out-and-out striker is more needed down the middle than a player of Mane’s ilk.

Additionally, Mane has just come off a season of struggle and isn’t getting any younger, so from that perspective, he wouldn’t fit the profile of what Arsenal have been looking for in recent years.

It probably just goes to show how much the north London have grown that they probably wouldn’t push for Mane’s signature now.
