Willian has said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel that although he played for Arsenal under manager Mikel Arteta, it is Chelsea that he supports.

The Brazilian attacker played for Chelsea from 2013 until 2020 when he moved to Arsenal on a free transfer.

Things did not work out for Willian, who can also operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, at Arsenal.

The 33-year-old had his contract at Arsenal mutually terminated in the summer of 2021.

Willian is now at Corinthians in Brazil.

When asked which club he supports, Arsenal or Chelsea, Willian said: “Chelsea. I respect Arsenal, but I support Chelsea.”

Disappointing Arsenal spell for Willian

In our opinion, you could not really blame Arsenal for signing Willian.

Yes, the Brazilian was on a lot of money, but he arrived at the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer.

Willian was playing well at Chelsea, and the assumption was that the Brazilian would continue to do well at Arsenal.

However, things simply did not work out for Willian at Arsenal.

The 33-year-old made 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal last season.

Willian scored one goal and gave five assists in those games.

The Brazilian gave two assists in nine Europa League matches for Arteta’s team last season.
