Speaking on the Where’s Jeff? Podcast, Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas has been speaking about Willian after he terminated his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Brazilian reportedly terminated his deal, but Nicholas finds it hard to believe that he’s simply walked away from the huge pay-packet he was on at Arsenal.

The pundit claims that there will have been some sort of agreement reached, before labelling the Brazilian and absolute disaster in north London.

What’s been said?

Nicholas was discussing Willian’s departure and his legacy in England.

“Well, I’d be interested to see any further details on this, but I think how he’s done that and what’s developed through it. A lot goes through the books undisclosed, and I can’t imagine he’s ripped it up and walked away from it with no gain whatsoever. There has been some sort of agreement reached. Willian was a fantastic player at Chelsea, but he was an absolute disaster at the Arsenal,” Nicholas said.

Sad, but true

As much as we hate to discredit any footballer, especially a professional as accomplished as Willian, we have to agree with Nicholas’ view here.

The winger was nothing short of a disaster at Arsenal. He cost them a lot of money and very rarely did anything of use on the pitch.

It’s no surprise that the Gunners wanted to get rid of him this summer, and even if it did cost the London club, they’ve done the right thing in cutting ties.
