US Vice President JD Vance was notably absent from the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup concluded with Spain registering a dominant 1-0 win over defending champions Argentina.
Since the tournament’s final was held in the US, President Donald Trump was in attendance and even handed the trophy to the Spaniards himself.
In fact, the final game of the tournament was attended by a plethora of celebrities, but US Vice President JD Vance wasn’t among them.
JD Vance missed the 2026 FIFA World Cup final because of his newborn baby
Vance’s absence from the World Cup final had nothing to do with politics or his love for soccer. Instead, an X post from the Vice President revealed the personal reason why Vance wasn’t present alongside Trump.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning. Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother,” Vance wrote on X.
He added, “The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family.”
Alec is Vance and Usha’s fourth child, as the newborn already has three siblings. We congratulate Vance and his family on the birth of their youngest child.
It also makes sense for Vance to be with his family during this time rather than attending the FIFA World Cup final with President Trump.
