JD Vance has responded after MLB warned San Francisco Giants players over alterations made to Pride Night caps.
The issue followed the Giants’ Pride Night game against the Chicago Cubs, when three San Francisco pitchers wrote Bible verse references on Pride-themed caps.
Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker wrote the references on their caps. Sam Hentges wore a standard Giants cap instead of the Pride-themed version.
MLB said the players had violated league uniform rules. The league described its response as a warning, not a disciplinary action.

Vance responded after reports of MLB’s warning circulated. The vice president wrote: “Trump won we don’t have to do this anymore.”
Donald Trump won the 2024 Electoral College by 312 votes to Kamala Harris’s 226, according to the official 2024 Electoral College results.
Vance is serving as vice president in the Trump administration.
MLB says warning related to uniform rules
The Giants wore caps carrying a rainbow version of the team’s logo for Pride Night.
Roupp wrote a reference to Genesis 9:12-16 on his cap. Brubaker and Walker also wrote Bible verse references on their caps.
MLB said the issue was writing on uniforms, rather than the religious content of the references. The league said writing on uniforms violates league regulations.
The league also said the warnings were routine and not disciplinary.
The Giants later restated support for inclusion and the LGBTQ+ community, while also acknowledging that the players’ actions had caused hurt.
