Tom Brady refuses to pick between Michael Jordan and LeBron — and his reasoning says everything about him
Basketball fans have long debated who is the greatest of all time between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. This argument has taken a life of its own among NBA fans.
But how does the undisputed GOAT of the NFL feel about it? Well, he hates the idea of it being a debate in the first place.

Tom Brady loves both LeBron James and Michael Jordan
When asked to choose between Michael Jordan and LeBron James, Tom Brady stayed neutral, very unlike the seven-time Super Bowl winner.
The question came up during an NBC Sports interview ahead of Sunday Night Football in 2018. Brady’s response shifted the focus away from them and towards a different way of looking at competition.
“I’m not answering that question. I don’t even like that question — it’s a hypothetical. There’s no right answer.
“Listen, I love them both. I’ll tell you this, I love them both. And you know what? I think that’s the right answer, because how could you choose one? They’re different. They compete differently.”
It wasn’t deflection. It was perspective. To Brady, comparisons between eras or styles don’t matter. What matters is the relentless standard both players chase, the same one that drove him to win seven Super Bowls in his career.
Tom Brady might have the perfect answer to the GOAT debate
Some fans might find it frustrating that Tom Brady didn’t give a decisive answer to the question, especially considering the deep rift that exists between LeBron James and Michael Jordan’s fanbases.
For Brady, choosing between Jordan and LeBron made no sense. It diminished the greatness of one player in an effort to prop up the other.
The moment wasn’t about evasion — it was about respect. Like Jordan and LeBron, Brady belongs to a tier where competition transcends comparison.
His refusal to choose isn’t indecision; it’s understanding. Legends don’t rank legends. They recognize them.
