Frank Lampard 007 has began to trend online as Chelsea continue to struggle under the 44-year-old’s guidance.

The Blues currently find themselves 12th in the Premier League with just 39 points to their name from 33 games, meaning relegation to the Championship is still possible.

It is safe to say that Lampard’s arrival has not had the impact Todd Boehly or Chelsea fans would have hoped for.

So, why is Lampard 007 trending on social media? Let’s take a look…

Lampard 007

Well, the 007 term is a fairly new joke amongst those online.

It was used to mock Jadon Sancho, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Cody Gakpo when they first arrived in the Premier League but suffered slow starts.

In regards to a player, the 007 tag means they have gone without a goal or assist in their first seven appearances.

For a manager – such as Lampard in this instance – it means they have failed to win or draw a game in their first seven attempts.

At the time of writing, Lampard has overseen six defeats from his first six games since replacing Graham Potter, so he is just one loss away from receiving the dreaded 007 tag.

Chelsea Next Fixture

Lampard could easily end up being called 007 in just a matter of days.

Chelsea take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in their next fixture this Saturday, which may seem like a winnable game on paper.

However, the Cherries are on a very strong run of form, winning four of their last five Premier League outings.

Therefore, it will not be an easy encounter for Chelsea and Lampard by any means.

To make matters worse, a win for Bournemouth would take them above Chelsea, pushing the Blues even closer to the relegation zone.

If Bournemouth win and the likes of Leicester, Everton and Leeds are also victorious, it will leave Chelsea fans feeling very nervous indeed.
