Steve Kerr is finally facing the reality of the Golden State Warriors, accepting the end of the Stephen Curry dynasty era.
Steve Kerr isn’t hiding from the past anymore. After years of titles, rivalries, and impossible comebacks, the Golden State Warriors coach now sounds like someone learning how to fade gracefully.
The Golden State Warriors aren’t the dominant side they once were. What once felt like an endless run of success led by Stephen Curry now feels more like a search for meaning in the struggle.

Steve Kerr admits Stephen Curry and Golden State Warriors dynasty can’t continue
Steve Kerr spoke to reporters ahead of the Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks game on NBA Christmas Day.
When addressing their current state, Kerr admitted that the days of their dynasty led by Stephen Curry are over, as they just don’t have the team or the skill to dominate the NBA anymore.
“Where we are as a team, as an organization, the most important thing for me is for guys to recognize that there’s beauty in the struggle. There’s beauty in what we’re trying to accomplish right now.
“We are no longer the ’17 Warriors, you know, dominating the league. We are a fading dynasty. We know that. Everybody knows that.
“So what is up to us is, how do we carry ourselves night to night? How connected are we? And can we give ourselves another swing at the plate? We did that last year. I was really proud of the team last year.
“We gave ourselves a chance, and that’s the goal here. We know where we are. We’ve got to know who we are. We’ve got to know what’s possible, and we have to take pride in the struggle, because this is part of life.”
Warriors dynasty is over, but championship window is still alive
Steve Kerr is clearly accepting that this current version of the Golden State Warriors cannot be the best team in the NBA.
However, that doesn’t mean that the Warriors can’t make a title run. In 2022, the Warriors made a surprising run to the NBA championship, despite not having an elite roster.
And while their roster is far from perfect this season, they showed last season that they could compete with the best teams in the NBA, toppling a 52-win Houston Rockets team in the first round.
Could lightning strike twice for the Golden State Warriors? It’s certainly possible, but the days of the Warriors dominating teams en route to a title are over, even in their own eyes.
