HITC Football understands that Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona were both represented at St James’ Park on Saturday as they checked on long-term target and Newcastle United midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes.

Eddie Howe’s side recorded a 2-2 draw against free-scoring Bournemouth, with Bruno Guimaraes starting the game and playing the entire match.

The 26-year-old is being linked with a summer move as Newcastle United may have to sell one of their star names in order to enhance their squad due to ongoing Profit and Sustainability concerns.

HITC also revealed earlier this month that PSG’s interest in Bruno Guimaraes was continuing and this is backed up by them watching the Newcastle star in action.

The Magpies secured Champions League football last season, but ended up finishing bottom of their group, although they were unfortunate in the circumstances they were dumped out.

Now, they find themselves sitting seventh in the Premier League table, four points behind sixth-placed Manchester United having played a game extra and a further 12 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.

The Brazil international was a big-name and big-money arrival when he signed from Lyon for £40 million during the 2022 January transfer window.

Pretty much straight away, the all-action midfielder became a fan favourite and would go on to become a key member of Howe’s side.

That road led the team to the League Cup final last season, before they were beaten by Manchester United at Wembley, but they are still in the FA Cup this term and he did play a key role in the team’s win at bitter rivals, Sunderland.

Injuries have hit Newcastle hard this time around and they are now fighting to try to secure a European finish in May.

Only two points separate Wolves in 11th and Newcastle in 7th, so expect the fight for the final European spot to go down to the final game of the campaign.
