Mudryk 007 could soon start to trend amongst the football community as the Chelsea No.15 struggles in English football.
The likes of Jadon Sancho and Cody Gakpo also became associated with the 007 tag after moving to the Premier League with Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.
So, what does the 007 tag mean? And why might Mudryk 007 soon start to trend online? Let’s take a look…
Mudryk 007
Well, the Ukraine international is not about to become the new James Bond – if that’s what you were thinking.
The 007 tag has started to become a popular meme amongst football fans on Twitter, as it references a player failing to provide a goal or assist in his first seven games following a big-money transfer.
Sancho failed to register a single goal involvement in his first seven games for Manchester United following a £73m move from Borussia Dortmund in July 2021.
In regards to Gakpo, the 007 tag was just about to be associated with him until he scored against Everton in his seventh appearance for Liverpool, after a £35m move from PSV Eindhoven in January.
As things stand, Mudryk – who Chelsea signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88.5m – has played four games for the Blues without scoring or assisting a goal.
Therefore, if the 22-year-old fails to register a goal involvement in Chelsea’s upcoming clashes against Southampton, Tottenham and Leeds, he will join Sancho in the 007 club – as far as childish football fans online are concerned.
Mudryk, Sancho & Gakpo deserve time
In our view, football fans on social media are a major problem in the modern game.
Yes, Mudryk, Sancho and Gakpo did cost their respective sides a lot of money.
However, the Chelsea No.15 and the Manchester United No.25 are both just 22 years of age, while Gakpo is 23 years old, so they are still very young players who deserve a bit of patience.

As quoted by ESPN, Erik ten Hag recently hinted that Sancho is struggling with his mental health, which may have presumably been down to social media taunting.
The Dutchman said: “In this moment he is not fit enough. It’s physical, but physical is also the connection with mental.”
Football fans – and society in general – need to understand that their actions online have consequences in the real world. Hopefully, Mudryk can find his feet soon, as it would be a shame to see him slapped with the 007 tag.
