If you’re an Arsenal supporter, Gabriel Martinelli v Leeds would’ve been a very exciting proposition before the game.

Martinelli went into this afternoon’s visit to Elland Road as probably the Gunners’ most in-form attacking player, after scoring one and setting up another in the 3-2 victory over Liverpool last weekend.

And the Brazilian was full of energy for Arsenal again this afternoon in West Yorkshire.

The 21-year-old’s speed caused a major problem for the Whites and Paul Robinson showered him with compliments during his co-commentary.

He said live on Optus Sport: “It’s why he’s playing every week. He turns defence into attack so quickly. We’ve heard that his attitude and application is first class and he’s showing what a real talent he is.”

Martinelli, a £6 million addition in 2019, has been a thorn in United’s side but it was Bukayo Saka who opened the scoring with a stunning right-footed thump, beating Illan Meslier at his near post.

You could argue that the French goalkeeper could and should’ve saved it, but what a strike nonetheless.

Martinelli and Saka have been such a problematic duo for opposition full-backs this season and although the latter opened the scoring, few would be surprised if his South American teammate adds another one.
