Darragh MacAnthony questioned on the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (03/08/21 at 7:50 pm) why Chelsea aren’t trying to sign Tottenham striker, Harry Kane.

The Peterborough United owner shared that he is ‘astonished’ Chelsea aren’t going for the Tottenham hitman given Kane’s current situation and their need to bring in a number nine.

It has been well-documented that Kane has now missed several days of Tottenham training, as he tries to force a move to Manchester City.

But MacAnthony suggested that Tottenham’s London rivals could pay the money needed to sign the England captain this summer.

“What I am really interested in is ‘why aren’t Chelsea in the Harry Kane business’?” asked MacAnthony. “It’s London and it’s £120 million.

The English club owner is then told that ‘historically’ there have been problems at the boardroom level between both Spurs and Chelsea.

“Well, what a time to break that,” responded MacAnthony. “Kiss and make up. And say ‘you know what Man City, you can keep your £110 million, Roman’s giving us £125 million’.

“I have clubs that I don’t particularly like. Owners and chairman. Probably others don’t like me. They are probably jealous of my good looks,” he joked.

“But the reality is ‘money talks’. Fans have always said ‘would you do business with that club?’. If they pay enough. Absolutely. I am astonished.”

Well, it seems as though Chelsea are trying to bring a familiar face back to London this summer in the form of Romelu Lukaku.

The former Manchester United player has thrived in Italy winning the Serie A title last season, but he may well be returning.

And now, whether Kane is donning Tottenham colours or not next season, the 2020/21 Premier League’s top goalscorer is now going to have competition for that Golden Boot ahead of the new campaign.

Plus, with Manchester City going crazy in the market, Liverpool’s injured players returning and Manchester United getting stronger then anyone’s hopes of finishing in the top four has just become tougher.
