Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are set for a potential showdown in the Paris Masters final, with both players coming in as the top seeds. This year has clearly favoured Alcaraz, who has come out on top in seven of their last eight encounters.
The head-to-head record between the two doesn’t include their match at the Six Kings Slam, which was an exhibition. Even so, Alcaraz had good things to say about Sinner after that loss.
Their first match took place in front of just 500 people. Now, it’s one of the most anticipated fixtures on tour, with fans always expecting something special when they meet.
If they do end up facing each other again in Paris, it could be more than just another great match—it would also confirm Alcaraz as the year-end world number one.
Jannik Sinner told why he’s been struggling against Carlos Alcaraz in big matches
During the opening day of the Paris Masters, much of the discussion centred around the growing rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz, with talk of a potential final matchup to close out the Masters 1000 season.
Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson weighed in on why Sinner has had trouble in recent meetings, discussing the differences they see between the two players.

Querrey: “I think Carlos is just a little more dynamic in the way he plays; he throws in the drop shot. He’s an entertainer so when they don’t play in Italy, Carlos has the crowd on his side, they want to watch him, he’s contagious. Right now, it feels like there is a little bit of a mental block for Sinner to beat Alcaraz because of the numbers we just saw there on the screen.”
Recent results against Carlos Alcaraz have favoured the Spaniard
Since their first meeting, which took place in front of just 500 fans, Sinner and Alcaraz have grown into one of the sport’s most anticipated matchups.
They’ve now played each other 15 times, with Alcaraz winning nine of those meetings. The Spaniard is currently on a three-match winning streak against Sinner, dating back to the 2024 US Open.
Sinner’s lone win during this stretch came at Wimbledon. Still, it’s been a tough run overall for the Italian when facing Alcaraz.

Sinner has won three Grand Slams in his career so far: Wimbledon in 2024 and two Australian Open titles in 2024 and 2025. Meanwhile, Alcaraz has picked up four majors: the US Open in 2022 and 2025, Wimbledon twice (in 2023 and 2025), and the French Open once (in 2025).
