Who is Tom Glover? A number of people have asked this after the aptly named goalkeeper – released by Tottenham in 2019 – was involved in Melbourne A-League chaos.
The 24-year-old was escorted off the pitch by stewards during a game between Melbourne City and Melbourne Victory on Saturday, covered in blood after being attacked by supporters.
So, who is Tom Glover? And what happened over in the A-League derby? Let’s take a look…
Who is Tom Glover?
Well, the Melbourne City No.1 came through the youth ranks at Tottenham, making one appearance for the Under-18 side and 25 appearances for the Under-21 side at Spurs.
Glover was then loaned to Central Coast Mariners in 2017, before being shipped out on loan again to Helsingborg in 2019.
He then joined Melbourne City on a permanent basis later in 2019 after being released from his contract at Tottenham, without ever making a senior appearance for the north Londoners.

Sadly, Glover endured a turbulent afternoon after being hit by a metal bucket in the Melbourne derby.
Footage shows that Melbourne Victory fans threw a flare towards Glover during the game, which was abandoned due to the violent scenes with Melbourne City leading 1-0 after a fantastic goal from Aiden O’Neill.
The shot-stopper then threw the flare back into the stands from whence it came, inciting chaos as the Melbourne Victory supporters invaded the pitch to attack Glover.
A metal bucket – used to dispose of flares – was then thrown at the man released by Tottenham in 2019, causing blood to pour from his face as bedlam ensued.
Referee Alex King also seemed to be targeted with the metal bucket, as he ended up covered in ash from the flares.

Specifically, the recent decision to sell both the men’s and women’s grand finals to Sydney in a deal worth a reported $12m (£10m) went down as a very unpopular move.
