The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is said to want more creativity at Ibrox.

Everton’s Kieran Dowell is the newest January target for Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, according to the Daily Mirror.
But what do we know about the attacking midfielder, in case he does indeed rock up at Ibrox?
HITC Sport has the lowdown…
5) A lifelong Evertonian, Dowell was born 13 miles northwest of Liverpool in Ormskirk – the West Lancashire town famous for its gingerbread – on 10 October 1997, around seven years before he joined the Toffees’ academy system.
4) His idol as a kid was a certain Mikel Arteta, the Basque former central midfielder who enjoyed successful playing spells at Rangers and Everton before taking up his current role as Manchester City’s assistant coach.

3) But Dowell never got a chance to play alongside Arteta, whose departure for Arsenal arrived more than three years before the youngster’s Everton debut, against FC Krasnodar in December 2014 – just 62 days after his 17th birthday.
2) Dowell has only appeared four more times since then, however, despite having starred as Everton’s Under-23s achieved title success in 2016-17. That said, the 21-year-old did enjoy a productive spell at Nottingham Forest last season, where he scored 10 goals, set up five and was a teammate of Rangers players present and past, Joe Worrall and Barrie McKay.

1) Though eligible to represent Republic of Ireland internationally, it is with England that Dowell has won all of his caps so far – appearing for the Three Lions at all levels between U16 and U21. He recently shone for the latter side in a 5-1 win against Denmark, in which another reported Rangers target, Dominic Solanke, also caught the eye with a brace.
Would Dowell be a good fit for Rangers?
