The Brighton and Hove Albion defender played against Leeds United last season.

The Brighton and Hove Albion defender Ben White was looked at closely by Leeds United in the summer transfer window, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The newspaper claims however that the chance to add another centre-back was ultimately passed up by Marcelo Bielsa.
But who exactly is White? Here are five facts to get you up to speed, as we ask: the Leeds manager view things differently in January?
5) Released by Southampton at the age of 16, Poole native White appears to have got his career back on track in Brighton, where his promise was rewarded with a new three-year deal earlier this year – which takes him beyond his 23rd birthday.
4) White spent last season on loan at Newport County, and played the full match as Michael Flynn’s side beat Leeds 2-1 in last season’s FA Cup third round.

3) According to the Sun, White’s Newport performances caught the eye of a couple of Premier League heavyweights, in Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, although Brighton were able to wrap up his contract before it entered its final year.
2) Having played at right-back, left-back and defensive midfield for Newport, as well as his natural role, right-footed White certainly fits the versatile profile usually favoured by Bielsa.

1) So could a move to Leeds be on this winter? Bielsa has found himself particularly short in White’s position and may, privately, regret his decision not to pursue the 21-year-old’s signature. Given our final fact – that White has only played under-23 and u21-team football this season – Brighton may be open to the idea.
