Aaron Rodgers is edging closer to a decision on whether he will play a 22nd NFL season.

The veteran quarterback’s future has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of the campaign, with retirement talk circulating despite his current situation in Pittsburgh.

As the offseason unfolds, clarity on Rodgers’ plans is becoming increasingly important for the Steelers. The latest update offers a potential timeline and reinforces expectations about where he would play if he continues.

Aaron Rodgers expected to decide on 22nd NFL season by mid-March

Providing insight in comments shared by Adam Schefter, the update stated: “The belief around the league is that the feeling is he’s supposed to give an answer by mid-March.”

Schefter added: “Many people thought that there was no chance he’d be back. It certainly sounds like it is an absolute consideration, and it sounds like he’s more likely than not to be back today.”

The suggestion that Rodgers is leaning towards returning marks a shift from earlier assumptions that retirement was inevitable.

Pittsburgh’s planning for the upcoming season hinges on that clarity, particularly given the experience and leadership Rodgers brings to the offense.

The same update revealed further: “It’s Aaron Rodgers, so you never fully know. Feeling is, he’ll be back. Feeling is, should be mid-March. Feeling is, it should be Pittsburgh.”

If Rodgers does confirm his return, it would solidify continuity for the Steelers rather than trigger another period of transition.

His presence remains central to their competitive outlook, especially in a division that continues to demand high-level quarterback play.

As always with Rodgers, nothing is official until he says it himself. But mid-March now appears to be the window when the NFL will finally receive its answer.
