Aaron Rodgers’ next move is still unclear, but momentum appears to be building around a potential return.

The veteran quarterback has yet to publicly confirm whether he will play again, and that uncertainty continues to hover over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With offseason plans taking shape, Pittsburgh would ideally like clarity sooner rather than later.

Fresh insight now suggests the situation may be moving in one direction. If Rodgers does return, there appears to be a strong expectation about where he would land.

Aaron Rodgers increasingly expected to return to the Pittsburgh Steelers

Appearing on The Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Tom Pelissero provided the latest on Rodgers’ thinking and the Steelers’ position.

β€œI anticipate, based on my understanding, everyone knows that Aaron needs to make a decision sooner rather than later,” Pelissero told Eisen.

β€œI know that Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers have spoken a number of times, but this is Rodgers, and he needs to make his own decision.

β€œHe’s certainly showing an interest, we went from the end of the season when Mike Tomlin stepped down, that was probably it.

β€œThe odds are rising that Aaron Rodgers comes back, and I don’t see it being any place else… if he’s going to play, it’s going to be with the Steelers.”

That narrows the conversation considerably. It increasingly feels like a simple outcome for Pittsburgh: Rodgers returning as their starting quarterback.

Malik Willis could be a smarter option for the Pittsburgh Steelers

While Rodgers would bring experience and immediate credibility, there is a case to be made that the Steelers should look elsewhere. Malik Willis represents a younger, more dynamic alternative.

During Jordan Love’s absence in Green Bay, Willis stepped in and delivered. He led the Packers to a 3-0 record while completing 74.1 percent of his passes.

He threw three touchdowns, rushed for 138 yards on 20 carries, and averaged a league-best 10.19 yards per attempt during that stretch. It was a small sample size, but it showed efficiency and composure.

Willis would not arrive with the same spotlight or expectations as Rodgers. Instead, he could inject mobility and unpredictability into a Steelers offense that needs fresh energy.

Other teams are aware of what Willis displayed, which may increase his value. But if Pittsburgh is thinking beyond just one season, investing in youth could prove the more sustainable path.
