Gabriel Agbonlahor has been singing the praises of Gabriel Martinelli at Arsenal.

The 21-year-old has arguably been the Gunners’ best player in what’s shaping up to be a stunning season.

Arsenal are top of the Premier League standings and Martinell’s five goals in 12 outings have certainly helped the North Londoners reach where they are.

And Agbonlahor is blown away by his potential, claiming he’s the ‘worst possible’ wide player to come up against this season.

He told talkSPORT: “When I watch him, right-backs must be dreading the whole week leading up to face Martinelli. He’s a pest. He’ll hunt you down, track back. He’s probably the worst possible left-winger to play against in the Premier League at the moment and he’s 21.”

Calling Martinelli a ‘pest’ really does sum up the Brazil international.

One criticism though is perhaps based around the fact that he seems to fade relatively early.

Martinelli regularly has an explosive first-half display for Arsenal and then goes missing for the last 20 minutes or so.

We’ve seen it quite a lot this season and that could stem from burning himself out during the opening 45 minutes.

If so, it’s something Mikel Arteta will have to manage and correct because there will be games when the Gunners need his explosiveness toward the end of games and at the moment, they aren’t getting it.
