Garth Crooks claims Harry Kane was set for a rough game against Arsenal after the Tottenham attacker was outjumped by Ben White for a header.

Writing in BBC Sport’s Team of the Week column, the former Spurs forward believes that the England captain was never in the game after losing out on an aerial duel to the Arsenal defender.

Kane had a match to forget against Arsenal with the Tottenham star giving away the ball to allow the Gunners to make it 3-0 in the opening half. The 28-year-old attacker also missed a golden chance after the restart to put Spurs back in the match.

It is not the first time this season Kane has struggled for Spurs. The England star was poor against Crystal Palace and Chelsea. The striker was also criticised for his body language, with the forward appearing uninterested.

And Crooks was critical of Kane against Arsenal after losing an early duel with White. The BBC pundit said: “The writing was on the wall at Emirates Stadium when I saw Ben White outjump Harry Kane for a 50/50 header in the early exchanges.

Crooks later added: “Anyone can lose a header but it’s Kane’s body language that worried me.”

With Kane yet to score in the Premier League this season, something is not right with the Spurs attacker who last season won both the Golden Boot and Playmaker awards for the English top-flight.

And his performance against Arsenal was one that many Tottenham fans will be eager to forget sooner rather than later.
