West Ham are considering the prospect of following Leeds and Southampton in sacking their manager as David Moyes continues to struggle.

The Daily Mail believe West Ham are sticking with the 59-year-old for now, but are exploring the managerial market in case they need to part ways with the Scot.

Now, West Ham’s thoughts on the managerial situations at Leeds and Southampton have emerged.

What’s the story?

Well, the Daily Mail believe West Ham are wary of sacking Moyes after seeing how much difficulty Leeds and Southampton experienced in their hunts to replace Jesse Marsch and Nathan Jones respectively.

Leeds have only just found a replacement for the American in Javi Gracia, who was appointed earlier on Tuesday following a 15-day search for a new manager.

In regards to Southampton, the Saints still haven’t replaced Jones despite sacking him almost two weeks ago, and are seemingly ready to hand the reins over to his old No.2 Ruben Selles.

With few options available in the managerial market, West Ham remain cautious of going down a similar route to Leeds and Southampton before finding themselves stranded without a leader in the relegation battle.

West Ham right to be wary after Leeds & Southampton struggles

In our view, despite the fact plenty of West Ham fans want to see Moyes leave, those in the boardroom at the London Stadium are right to be cautious about handing him his P45 just yet.

As Nottingham Forest showed earlier this season when they handed Steve Cooper a new contract, despite the fact the Welshman looked set to be sacked, there can be value in sticking with those closest to the situation.

Yes, Moyes is struggling right now, but there is no point sacking him only to bring in a manager on a similar – or worse – level to the Scottish tactician.

Hopefully, Moyes can turn things around, as it would be a shame to see him sacked after enjoying so much success at West Ham in recent years, including a run to the Europa League semi-final.
