Carlos Alcaraz enjoyed an outstanding 2025 campaign, laden with untold triumphs and plenty of silverware.
As such, he finished the year ranked top of the world rankings, narrowly beating Jannik Sinner to the title.
However, whilst the Spaniard enjoyed that particular triumph over his generation rival, as well as dethroning him at the US Open, this all served as a form of revenge after Sinner beat him in the final of Wimbledon earlier in the year.
Although it was a supreme performance from the 24-year-old, Alcaraz will have left Centre Court feeling somewhat underwhelmed with his performance.
The words that Princess Kate Middleton offered afterwards will have offered some solace, though.

Given the fact that he has twice won the Wimbledon title already, Alcaraz will be building quite the relationship with the Royal Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.
That could not have been made clearer after speaking to the 22-year-old, as she revealed her daughter’s allegiance during the final.
Kate claimed: “Charlotte was team Carlos.”
This prompted a smile from Alcaraz, who admitted: “That’s very nice.”
He will hope to reclaim his crown in 2026 and bring a smile back to this royal face.

Had he beaten Sinner in the final earlier this year, Alcaraz would have become just the fifth man ever to win Wimbledon for three straight years.
Despite that, he still remains very much on track to threaten Roger Federer’s record of eight titles at the All-England Club.
He is a supremely competent operator on grass, having taken to the surface with remarkable ease despite his youth, relative inexperience and nationality, with Spaniards often famed for being brought up on clay.
Alas, his sprawling skillset allows him to thrive no matter the conditions.
After beating Fabio Fognini in his first-round match at Wimbledon, he became the fastest man in the Open Era to reach 30 wins on grass, doing so in 33 matches.
At that point, as well, he had lost fewer matches on grass (three) than he had won tournaments on the surface.
