Manchester United want to improve squad depth in midfield, and Warren Zaire-Emery has emerged as an option after seeing reduced playing time at PSG.
The summer transfer window is only just getting started, but Manchester United’s plans are already starting to take shape under the new regime.
Matheus Cunha has already been confirmed as the first signing of the summer, and Bryan Mbeumo is edging closer to following him through the door.
That won’t be the end of Ineos’ summer overhaul, though, with four more signings expected after Mbeumo’s deal is completed.
A new striker is on the list, but the midfield is another area of focus, with replacements needed for the departing Christian Eriksen and possibly Casemiro.
Warren Zaire-Emery has emerged as a potential addition, as his situation under Luis Enrique has seen him fall behind Vitinha and Joao Neves.
Manchester United keep eyes on Zaire-Emery, but there aren’t concrete talks
The focus at Old Trafford is now shifting to the midfield. Interest in Ardon Jashari has grown, but Zaire-Emery’s situation at PSG has also caught attention.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey commented on the links, telling United In Focus:
“Zaire-Emery has been the subject of enquiries in recent weeks – Europe’s top clubs all love him and are monitoring his situation carefully, and United are one of those. But as it stands, PSG are not looking to let any of their young talent leave, and from what I am told, the player is not pushing for an exit, despite not being the first choice at the moment.”
“He is a huge talent, as we know, and United would like to think they could compete for him, but as yet it is not a situation as far as PSG or the player are concerned.”
This would be a statement signing from Ineos, similar to last summer’s acquisition of Leny Yoro. Zaire-Emery has made 125 appearances for PSG and is still only 19. His potential is undeniable, but it is important to consider whether he fits United’s needs.

What would Zaire-Emery bring to Man United?
In terms of a midfield addition this summer, Amorim is looking for increased athleticism in his side.
Zaire-Emery fits that bill. The young midfielder could add the energy the Red Devils squad needs. His work rate and stamina are trademarks, but his game is not just about physical attributes
The Frenchman is also gifted on the ball. He has the skills to play under pressure in tight spaces and could enhance Amorim’s team in terms of build-up play.
His passing is another strength, with a pass completion rate of 91.7%.
However, prising him away from PSG won’t be cheap. The club is expected to demand over £80m, which could prompt United to look at other options.
