Rangers pulled off one of the deals of the January window by signing Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus on deadline day. A player that John Hartson once described as having stats “through the rood” in 2019.
Ramsey, 31, has completed a loan move to Ibrox that will see the 71-time Wales international remain at Rangers until the end of the season. Some reports claim that a permanent clause has been included in the deal.
It is a move considered one that is not only a huge coup for Rangers, but one that is massive for Scottish football – according to Kris Boyd. Reports state that Ramsey is unlikely to feature against Celtic on Wednesday.
While Celtic have enjoyed a superb window, Ramsey is seen as a better signing and Hoops icon Hartson’s verdict of Ramsey in 2019 on BT Sport proves just how good an addition Rangers have made in the midfielder.
“Technically, he’s very good. He covers more ground than any other player. Stats are through the roof in kilometres. His biggest asset, goalscoring midfielder. He seldom misses,” Hartson told BT Sport, as per The Mail.
Hartson on Ramsey: Does Rangers signing pip Celtic to Scottish title?
Rangers currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership but after Rangers dropped points in injury time to Ross County, Celtic have closed the gap to just two points. It makes Wednesday’s game absolutely crucial.
But the signing of Ramsey surely makes the title race, advantage Rangers. Yes, Ramsey is lacking in match fitness, momentum and more. But even the addition of Ramsey is going to generate huge enthusiasm at Ibrox.
Add in his goals, assists, energy, midfield versatility, tenacity and big-name status, Ramsey hugely improves an already excellent Rangers side. Ramsey has the talent to win the title for Rangers this season.
