Speaking on The Done Deal Show, PA journalist Nick Purewal has been discussing Arsenal and their reported interest in N’Golo Kante.
An article in the Star over the weekend linked the Gunners with a move for the French midfielder, and, in all honesty, it was quite difficult to envisage this transfer actually happening.
As the PA’s Chelsea correspondent, Purewal has heard about this rumour, and he believes that there isn’t much too it, stating that it’s a bit of a long shot, noting that Arsenal would indeed love to have Kante.
What’s been said?
The reporter shared what he knows about Arsenal and Kante.
“I think no, I think overall, from what I’ve heard that’s a bit of a long one. I’m sure that Arsenal are one of the clubs that would love to have him, but Thomas Tuchel loves Kante and he’s been on the record about that. He calls him Chelsea’s superman, and he considers Kante one of the most important players at Chelsea. When he’s at his best nobody else in the world can do what he does,” Purewal said.

Never likely
Arsenal may have been linked with Kante over the weekend, but you have to be pretty wet behind the ears to truly believe that the Frenchman was going to end up at the Emirates this summer.
Kante remains one of Chelsea’s most important players and after the Gunners missed out on the Champions League again last season, it’s hard to envision him taking that backwards step.
Kante, of course, would have been a brilliant signing for Arsenal, but it was never likely to happen.
Arsenal are much more likely to land a player such as Youri Tielemans or Lucas Paqueta as their hunt for a new midfielder continues.
