Ruud Gullit has stated that there is always a moment when Liverpool and Brazil number one, Alisson Becker, ‘turns off’ when he has the ball at his feet.

The Dutch legend shared how he doesn’t rate the World Cup star because he has a ‘mistake’ in him and how he prefers Manchester City’s Ederson, who is ‘so good’, as he told beIN SPORTS (05/12/22 at 6:40 pm).

At the Qatar World Cup, it’s Alisson who is donning the gloves, as Ederson is sitting on the bench for his country.

Ederson did start Brazil’s dead-rubber group game defeat to Cameroon, with Alisson starting the rest, including their 4-1 thumping of South Korea during the knockout stages.

But whilst Tite and Jurgen Klopp have full faith in Liverpool’s £67 million star (Sky Sports), he is dividing opinion from the outside, including Gary Neville calling him the best keeper at the World Cup ‘by a mile’.

But after Peter Schmeichel also thought that Alisson has a ‘mistake’ in him, those words have now been echoed by another legendary figure in the game.

“What I have with Alisson is that there is always a moment that he turns off, especially with the ball at his feet,” said Gullit.

“That’s where he makes mistakes. Unbelievable. There is one moment like that. He always has that. What is this? He has that. I like the other one (Ederson). Yes, I like him more. He is so good with his feet.

“I have a better feeling when he is behind than without.”

ALISSON CRITICISM

Liverpool fans will be quick to point towards Alisson’s success as a player to debunk these claims that he is seemingly error-prone.

When the Reds suffered a spate of injuries during the behind-closed-doors season, the former Roma man himself did make mistakes and was all over the shop during that season.

But that was a one-off, and for the most part, he has been one of the best keepers in recent years and one of the best Liverpool has had.
