Gary Neville says Liverpool and Brazil’s number one, Alisson Becker, is the best goalkeeper at the Qatar World Cup ‘by a mile’, after criticism from Peter Schmeichel.
The former Manchester United defender thinks Alisson is simply ‘the best’, as he helped Brazil progress to the quarter-finals of the Qatar World Cup when Tite’s side thrashed South Korea 4-1 on Monday.
That’s the first time Alisson has conceded in this tournament – he was on the bench for his side’s dead-rubber against Cameroon during the group stages, which they lost 1-0.

Nonetheless, in previous days, legendary keeper and former treble-winner at Old Trafford, Peter Schmeichel, recently stated that Alisson ‘always has a mistake’ in him.
Whilst one former Manchester United player had harsh words to say about Alisson, it’s the complete opposite of what Neville thinks, as he told beIN SPORTS (05/12/22 at 6:35 pm).
“Brazil have two great centre-backs, they have a great holding midfield player and they also have, I think, the best goalkeeper in the competition, until we spoke with Peter Schmeichel the other night, who don’t think (Alisson is the best),” said Neville.
“I don’t know what you think (speaking to Andy Gray, Ruud Gullit and Richard Keys), but I think Alisson is the best keeper by a mile.”

ALISSON IS ONE OF THE WORLD’S BEST
Whether the Liverpool man is the best in the world or the best at the World Cup right now is up for debate, but one thing is for sure, he can be in that conversation.
It could even be argued, as Jurgen Klopp’s side struggle for form this season, amid their indifferent start, he has perhaps been THE consistent performer.
Well, the only way for Alisson to answer his critics is out on the pitch and the World Cup stage is the biggest of them all to do it.
